Mario Chases Himself

Description

Although the video game cartoons I really hope to have DVD sets for are "Earthworm Jim" and "Donkey Kong Country", I should be thankful for the resurgence of the Super Mario Bros. cartoons in recent years. So why am I not acting that way? Well, for one reason, it's because they're probably never going to reinstate the popular song remakes that were edited out of the SMB Super Show. But the other reason, and the reason I've drawn this picture, is the lack of artistic ability on the DVD covers. Why is it DiC feels the need to plaster these bad drawings on all their recent things involving Mario? They decorate the show's player at Yahooligans! TV, and as if that's not enough, you can clearly see that they copied the box art for the "Movie Moments" DVD for the cover of the new "Mario Mania!" DVD. That, and the fact that they copied Mario's pose from the back of the "Action Adventures" VHS for the promo DVD given away with General Mills cereals. Even worse, the clipart is even on the fake posters in the background of the new DVD's "Ask Andy" bonus feature!! Would it honestly kill DiC if they just decorated the DVD cases with Nintendo's official Super Mario clipart? That's what they do on the PAL version of the new DVD (which replaces the first Zelda episode with the next two Mario episodes). But if I know DiC, they're probably just gonna keep over-using their own clipart rather than the well-done official clipart done by the original artists. I'd even prefer for them to use the artwork they used for the boxes of the old Kid Klassics videotapes (which, unlike the DVDs, retain the song remakes in the cartoons).

I liked The Super Mario Bros. Super Show, but totally accurate because Nintendo only has the license
