This is one of two fanarts requested by based off of her awesome "My Life as a Teenage Robot" fanfic Phoenix Fire. In the case shown here, Katie requested a picture of "Sheldon holding Jessie's hand". Jessie, alias XJ-10, is a new robot designed to fill in XJ-9's void after Jenny has her human-like qualities transferred into the body of Jennifer, Mrs. Wakeman's until-then braindead daughter. (See what she looks like here.) Although this is my first time drawing Sheldon, I did kinda get some practice with him by drawing his potential daughter, so he really wasn't much trouble. So let me commentate on Jessie. Katie described Jessie's appearance as having "the same basic design as Jenny, but she has bright yellow hair, pastel yellow eyes, and her 'outfit' is yellow". Now as you know, whenever I draw Jenny, I outline her with a light blue pen (never mind that on the show she seems to have a regular black outline). Since yellow seems to be Jessie's primary color, outlining her the way I do Jenny would obviously be difficult, since the closest utensil I've got to creating yellow outlines, my metallic-gold marker/pen doesn't seem to work. At least, not the pen half. The marker half works fine. So instead, I ended up using a light orange marker to provide Jessie's outline. That's why her outlines are thicker than the ones I usually draw. I should also point out that even thought Katie mentioned that Jessie has "pastel yellow eyes", in the fanfic itself, her eyes are blue (like Katie's OC in her first MLAATR fanfic, Automaton Troubles). I'd say that's a smart move, because my lightest yellow marker most likely would not have shown up when I scanned this. (The fic even seems to meta-reference this!) And as for Jessie's "outfit", you might notice that it seems to resemble the outfit that Jenny got suited with when she put on that exosuit in "Return of the Raggedy Android". However, I don't think I was thinking of that episode when I drew in Jessie's outfit. Well, now I've said all I can say, it's a pretty cute picture, but just wait till you see the other one!
